We didn't set out to build a healthcare company. We set out to survive the healthcare system, and somewhere in the middle of all of it, we realized we wanted to build something to help other people do the same.

Angela has spent more than a decade as a nuclear medicine technologist, working alongside patients going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. She watched, over and over, what happens when people leave an appointment without really understanding what was said. The fear. The missed follow-up care. The family members calling each other trying to piece together what the diagnosis meant. She watched a close family member endure a serious injury and recovery, while he and everyone around him struggled to navigate a system that rarely stops to explain itself.

Mike spent over twenty years watching his father navigate a serious heart condition, and ultimately lose that fight. Surgery after surgery, decision after decision, and rarely a clear explanation of what any of it meant, the risks and tradeoffs involved, or what questions to ask. A traumatic ski injury later put Mike on the patient side, and it was just as disorienting.

And then there was IVF. Multiple rounds over four-plus years, with all the hope and heartbreak and billing disputes and insurance fights that come with it. We had to advocate for ourselves at every step, including through a complicated and traumatic delivery. That journey gave us our beautiful daughter — and a firsthand understanding of why this work matters.

We have aging parents and a young child. We have been the confused family member in the waiting room, the patient in the bed, the advocate on the phone with insurance, and the couple sitting across from a doctor trying to get answers. We are building what we wish we would have had, for ourselves, for our family, and for every patient who has ever walked out of a doctor's office more confused than when they walked in.
